The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, launched athe $25 million Presidential Film Pitch Series.
According to Akufo-Addo. the pitch will, amongst others, provide Ghanaian film-makers the opportunity to access markets for their films.
While speaking at the ceremony that saw the attendance of several stakeholders in the creative arts industry, the president encouraged local film producers to show more creativity and innovation in their productions to make Ghanaian films not only popular within the country, but also capable of satisfying international audiences.
After the ceremony, the president took to his Facebook page to share snippets of his message he had shared with stakeholders at the event.
“I also announced that Government is retooling NAFTI to enable it provide the needed training for players in the industry, in our quest to make Ghana attractive to international film productions, as well as the hub of film production in West Africa,” the president posted on his Facebook page.
President Akufo-Addo also indicated that €45 million has been approved for NAFTI to reform it into a world class training facility. The school is also introducing specialized courses in scriptwriting, as well as the business of film.
