Alhaji Grunsah, a former member of the management team for Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, has sparked controversy with explosive claims made on Angel TV. Grunsah alleges that following receipt of a $100,000 appearance fee after the Qatar World Cup, a Ghana Football Association (GFA) member demanded he return 50% of the money to a specified account, despite Grunsah’s initial understanding that the payment was rightfully his.
”They took back a part of the $100,000 they paid me at the 2022 World Cup. I was asked to deposit 50% of that amount into a certain account that belonged to an FA official and I did”, the veteran football administrator said.
Grunsah’s revelation suggests a potential case of corruption within the GFA, as he asserts that he was instructed to redirect a significant portion of his appearance fee into an undisclosed account. While Grunsah complied with the demand, he now questions the motives behind the transaction and hints at possible illicit activities such as kickbacks or the prohibited practice of coefficient payments.
The implications of Grunsah’s allegations are far-reaching, raising concerns about the integrity and transparency of financial transactions within Ghanaian football administration. If substantiated, this scandal could tarnish the already ruined reputation of the GFA and raise questions about accountability and governance within the organization.

In response to the allegations, there has been no official statement from the GFA or the unknown implicated member. However, Grunsah insists that he possesses bank evidence to support his claims, suggesting that further revelations may emerge as the story unfolds.
