Assistant Headmistress, two Others Arrested for Stealing Food Items at Somè SHS

Staff of Somè SHS have been interdicted for the alleged stealing of food meant for students.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) management has interdicted three officers from Somè Senior High School in the Volta Region namely Richard Ametorxe (Bursar), Yorm Dzikumu (Matron), and Alex Obuadi (Storekeeper) pending an investigation into an alleged food theft.

In a statement on Monday, May 27, 2024, GES announced that an investigation began after alumni and an assembly member searched the bursar and matron on the evening of Friday, May 24, as they were leaving the school.

The search uncovered food items, including tinned tomatoes, mackerel, cleaning agents, and insecticide spray, in the matron’s possession.

Additionally, an assistant headmistress and a cook have been arrested for allegedly stealing food meant for students.

The assistant headmistress is in police custody for further investigation. An investigative committee has been formed to examine the case and has two weeks to report its findings.
