“I saw at first hand the devastation the incident had caused with some of the people unfortunately losing their lives, while others suffered various degrees of injury. While we mourn those who lost their lives through the tragic incident, we stand in solidarity with the survivors who bore physical and emotional trauma,” Bawumia added.

He commended the heroic efforts of those who rescued and transported some of the injured to different health facilities.

On January 20, 2022, a motorbike collided with a truck transporting explosives for a gold mine in Bogoso, resulting in an explosion. Subsequently, a second blast occurred, destroying numerous buildings and causing injuries to many, with thirteen fatalities.

In response, the Appiatse Support Fund was launched to aid victims and reconstruct the community, leading to the inception of the Appiatse Redevelopment Project in September 2022. Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor, praised the Vice President’s dedication to rebuilding the Appiatse Community.
