Senior Special Aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Samuel Awuku says the party will soon announce Dr. Mahamamu Bawumia’s running-mate for the 2024 elections.
Speaking on Onua FM’s show on Tuesday, Sammy Awuku said the NPP presidential candidate is clear in his mind about his choice, while attributing the delays of the announcement to party processes.
“I don’t think we’ll go beyond next month. The Presidential candidate in consultation with the national council selects the running mate. I can tell you that he [Bawumia] has started engagements with the national council. He is still deepening the consultation. But he is clear in his mind on the person or persons he wants to work with,” Mr. Awuku said, while evading a question about speculations of the main contenders.
According to pro-government media outlet, Asaase Radio, the NPP flagbearer is likely to select his running-mate from either the Ashanti or Eastern Region as the names of three partymen have come up.

They are Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; Energy Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo); and Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Bryan Acheampong.
