Tyla is the third non-US-born artist to win the Best New Artist award, following Nicki Minaj and Sam Smith. Her chart-topping single “Water” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January and earned her the first Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in February.
In addition to winning twice on the night, the Grammy-winning singer captivated the audience with a captivating performance of her single “Jump,” which featured American rapper Gunna and Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng.
