The boxing match between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and YouTube Vlogger, Jake Paul, has been postponed from its original date of July 20, 2024, with a new date to be announced by next Friday.
The news comes after Tyson reportedly suffered an ulcer flare upon a Los Angeles-bound flight earlier this week. The fight promoters said in a statement that upon a follow-up consultation with doctors, Tyson has been advised to engage in “minimal to light training over the next few weeks then return to full training with no limitations.”
Tyson, who has not competed in a professional bout since 2005, said he was in good form and will soon be resuming training.
“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” he said.

Jake Paul who started professional in 2020, confidently agreed to the postponement, claiming that he wants to fight Tyson at his best.
“I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night. My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake, when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish,” he said.
Paul made his professional boxing debut against AnEsonGib in January 2020. He fought and defeated former basketball player Nate Robinson, MMA fighters Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz, as well as professional boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland. He lost against Tommy Fury in 2023.
Both Tyson and Paul have reportedly agreed to push back the fight, set to be streamed on Netflix, to ensure an even playing field. The match is now expected to be rescheduled to later in the year at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date.
