Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former independent parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu constituency, has decided to rejoin the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after reconciliation meetings.
In a statement on Tuesday, the NPP Ashanti Regional Council of Elders confirmed the reconciliatory talks.
Owusu Aduomi previously ran as an independent candidate in the Ejisu by-election, which was held on Tuesday, April 30, following the unfortunate passing of the former MP, Mr. John Kumah. Aduomi however lost the election to NPP’s Francis Kwabena Boateng.
Aduomi, who had served three terms as an NPP Member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency, chose to run independently due to his concerns about the integrity and fairness of the NPP’s delegates’ list. Some NPP members accused him of betrayal and speculated that he had defected to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

But now the party says those matters have been dealt with.
“Owusu Aduomi announced to the delight of the members of the Council of Elders that he had put everything behind him and went on to announce his return to the party unconditionally. He emphasised that his umbilical cord is planted in NPP and that the NPP runs through the veins of his blood. Furthermore, Engineer Owusu Aduomi pledged to talk to his supporters and bring them back to the party,” the statement said.
