England’s search for European championship glory remains unfulfilled, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
This loss marks England’s second consecutive defeat in the European Championship final, following their 2021 loss to Italy at Wembley.
Spain’s victory, however, was a testament to the power of teamwork which proved more than individual talent.
The team seized the lead just 75 seconds into the second half, as Nico Williams finished a pass from Lamine Yamal. England equalized through Cole Palmer in the 73rd minute, but Spain’s determination paid off in the closing stages. Oyarzabal scored the winning goal in the 86th minute, securing Spain’s fourth European Championship title.
