Who is Major General Gaiti?

Having been in the military for 32 years, she first made the headlines in 2015 when former President Uhuru Kenyatta promoted her to the rank of Brigadier-General.

In 1983, she enlisted in the country’s armed forces before serving in the Women’s Service Corps. Two years later, she was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Kenyan Air Force.

In 2021, she was promoted to the rank of Major General, further solidifying her remarkable career and making her the first woman to ever rise to that rank in the Kenyan military.

In 2023, she was appointed as the Senior Director of Staff Air by President William Ruto.
