The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set guidelines to hold a parliamentary primary on July 14, 2024, to elect a parliamentary aspirant for the Manhyia South constituency.
The current MP of Manhyia South, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly called Napo, was recently approved as the running-mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the party.

According to a statement attributed to the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua, it said nominations will be opened on Monday, July 8, 2024, and close on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
“An aspiring parliamentary candidate (APC) shall procure nominations forms after the payment of a non-refundable applicating fee of GH 3000 in bankers draft in favour of the NPP national headquarters, Accra.”
At least five people, including the brother of Napo, are eyeing the seat, said pro-government outlet Asaase Radio.
“Posters of these aspirants, including Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, the Manhyia South constituency treasurer and biological brother of Dr Opoku Prempeh have emerged on social media indicating their interest in contesting the seat,” the media outlet wrote.
Other aspirants include Nana Ama Timah, deputy chief executive at the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, a private legal practitioner, and Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, lawyer Kingsley Bonsu Kyeretwie, second vice chairman for the NPP in Manhyia South.
