Nana Frimpomaa Triumphs Over Lawyer Anokye in CPP Flagbearer-ship Elections

The losing candidate, Lawyer Frimpong Anokye, refused to congratulate her for her victory in the contest, alleging that the election had been marred by vote-buying.

Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah is the 2024 Flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) according to the results of the Party’s elections conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).

She polled 763 votes against the 586 votes of her opponent, Lawyer Frimpong Yaw Anokye. Of the 1,360 votes cast, 11 were rejected.

Nana Frimpomaa Kumankumah, who is a former Chairperson of the CPP is seen by many of the Party’s supporters as the right candidate to make a significant impact given the limited time to the elections.

Speaking to the party’s supporters after being declared the winner by the EC, Nana Frimpomaa Kumankumah, describing her win as decisive and representing the voice of the masses, appealed to all CPP members to unite and work together to ensure success in the 2024 general elections.

“In every election, a winner will emerge, and everyone must stand united to ensure unity and cohesion”, she said.

The CPP Flagbearer assured her supporters that her focus was on wrestling power from the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress in the Dec 7 elections.

“I campaigned for three years, but the election was not fair. Someone allegedly bought votes and won. I believe I was the chosen candidate, but people were influenced with cash payments against me,” He bemoaned.
