In a latest update on the internet situation in Ghana, Telecel says it has secured 100% of its internet capacity with other services currently being restored, a post on their social media said.
A major internet disruption hit West and Central Africa on Thursday, March 14, as a result of damages to multiple subsea cables, reports from operators of multiple subsea cables said. Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria are among countries that were heavily impacted.
This happened days after Vodafone Ghana rebranded to Telecel Ghana promising Ghanaians of a great customer experience with innovation across all offerings.

But almost a day after meeting with the National Communications Authority (NCA) and other stakeholders on the way forward, Telecel Ghana has managed to restore its data capacity.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period. Please be assured that our team has started work on refunds of expired bundles and related issues,” the post said.
The affected cables were ACE, WACS, MainOne and SAT-3, all of which run from the west through the coast of Africa to Capetown in South Africa.
Customers of all three telcos in Ghana – MTN, Telecel and AT Ghana were affected. But service was quickly restored on AT Ghana because they had backup capacity from another cable – WIOCC coming from the East.
