Bawumia Begins ‘Issue-Based’ Nationwide Campaign Tour from the Eastern Region

According to the Director of Communication for Dr. Bawumia's campaign, the campaign will adopt an issues-based approach under the theme "Bold Solutions for Our Future."

The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has started his nationwide campaign tour from the Eastern Region, a stronghold of the NPP in preparation for the December 7 general elections.

According to the Director of Communication for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the campaign will adopt an issue-based approach under the theme “Bold Solutions for Our Future.”

It will primarily focus on three key aspects: the battle of ideas and character, the battle of records, and the battle of effective campaigning.

“Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team are promising an issue-based campaign, one that will focus on cogent, practical, and tailor-made ideas to deal with issues that are most dear to the Ghanaian people,” Aboagye said in a press statement.

The statement further outlined that Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team will meet a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, the clergy, the youth, traders, drivers, farmers, and students and visit businesses, including marketplaces, to interact with both traders and consumers across all 16 regions over the next month as part of the initial phase of their campaign efforts.

“On his rounds, he will meet with a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, the clergy, the youth, traders, drivers, farmers, … The candidate will engage the media, hold town hall meetings, and continue with his regular stakeholder engagements with the Ghanaian people,” the statement added.

With the battle of ideas and character, the presser states that Dr. Bawumia emerges as the most formidable candidate with the record of his vice presidency in the last seven years. The party claims that Dr. Bawumi has demonstrated more integrity, discipline, focus, ideas, and solutions than his main opponent, John Mahama, in his 8 years as Vice President and President.

It also added that Bawumia has proven to be Solutions-oriented and remains committed to finding more solutions to Ghana’s challenges if giving the nod as President in the December 2024 elections.

Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team challenge the leader of the main opposition party, John Mahama, to come for a debate on the records of the two personalities as Bawumia has achieved more in seven years.

The NPP presidential candidate has not yet appointed a running mate. In contrast, the presidential candidate of the NDC, John Mahama, has already named Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate.

The question arises: Will Ghanaians, for the first time, elect an incumbent vice president as president, or, for the first time, re-elect a former president as president?
