Ghana’s swimming representative, Abeiku Jackson placed 3rd with a bronze medal despite emerging winner in the men’s 100m butterfly final at the African Games currently ongoing in Ghana.
With a finishing time of 53.80 seconds, the Ghanaian came 3rd behind Nassr Abdallah (53.29) and Jarden Eaton (53.45) from Egypt and South Africa respectively.
The swim was originally scheduled to happen on Monday night [11 March] but for an infraction. The authorities decided to organize a re-swim today [March 12], however, with an option for the athletes to decide whether to reswim or opt out while maintaining their old swimming time.
While the Egyptian and South African opted not to partake in the re-race, Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson couldn’t better their time, placing 1st but 3rd on the medal list.

This would be the 23 yeard old’s second medal and fifth for Ghana after clinching a silver medal in the men’s 50m swimming race.
