His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has commissioned a cassava and yam factory as part of the One District, One Factory project.
On the 9th of September, the President held the honor of commissioning the project in the Krachi East District of the Oti Region.
The project which is believed to be worth GHC10 million is to allow the processing of yam into frozen chips and yam balls making use of our local farm produce.
The project is divided into two phases: The first phase will process 120 tubers of yam, 60 bags of processed frozen yam chips and yam balls per hour, and 216,000 tubers of yam annually.
The second phase, due to start in 2022, will focus on the processing of Cassava into cassava fries and an estimated 700 metric tons of cassava production annually.
