25th TGMA: Stonebwoy Takes Home the Artiste of the Year Title

Stonebwoy also acknowledged the efforts of other contenders nominated in the category and thanked his fans for their support.

Dancehall artiste, Livingston Etse Satekla, better known as Stonebwoy, has been adjudged the Artiste of the Year at the just-ended Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Despite being nominated alongside heavyweights like Kuami Eugene, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, King Promise, and Nacee, the Bhim Nation founder, who had previously won the award in 2015, emerged as the winner.

“I just want to say thanks to the Most High God. Thank you mama wherever you are, thank you for showering your blessings upon your son. I wrote a long speech but I am lost for words,” Stonebwoy said when he received the award.

Stonebwoy also acknowledged the efforts of other contenders nominated in the category and thanked his fans for their support. He also declared that he would shortly be starting another tour.

However, before leaving the stage, Stonebwoy urged the organisers of the show, Charterhouse, to declare the Artiste of the Year at the 2019 edition, which was annulled. The show ended abruptly due to a near-fight between Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and their entourage. Both artistes received a one-year suspension from the Ghana Music Awards board after the Artiste of the Year announcement was ultimately cancelled.

The “Run Go” hitmaker who secured 15 nominations in different categories, was also the evening’s most decorated artist. He received awards for International Collaboration of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Reggae Dancehall Artist of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album/EP of the Year.
