Ablakwa Petitions Special Prosecutor Over $34.9m Ambulance Scandal

North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has petitioned the Special Prosecutor to investigate the alleged $34.9 million Ambulance Spare Parts Scandal involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has received a petition from North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, regarding the alleged US$34.9 million Ambulance Spare Parts Scandal involving former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

In his petition on July 23, 2024, Ablakwa alleged that the government had failed to provide a breakdown of the US$113,695.45 claimed to be spent on spare parts for each ambulance, despite his exposé 24 hours prior.

“It is unacceptable that after 24 hours since my exposé, the government has been unable to speak, and at least provide a breakdown of the US$113,695.45 it claims to be spending on spare parts for each ambulance,” Ablakwa wrote in a post on Facebook.

He further argued that the said amount could purchase a new, fully-equipped modern ambulance.

This development follows Ablakwa’s latest exposé, on July 22, 2024, in which he accused Mr. Ofori-Atta of shortchanging the state in a US$34.9 million deal with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.
