The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) in a press statement said there is an outage on the 161KV Achimota to Accra Central Transmission Line due to the fire outbreak at the Nkrumah Circle rail line on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
The presser said residents in Accra Central and its environs are facing power outages as a result of the fire destroying the transmission line.
“The affected line has been isolated for safety reasons to prevent the risk of electrocution The intensity of the fire caused parts of the transmission line to burn and snap. Due to the outage on the Achimota – Accra Central Transmission Line residents in Accra Central and its environs are without power supply,” according to the statement.

GRIDCO has assured Accra Central residents of fixing the problem by the close of Thursday, June 6, 2024, and has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
“Work is ongoing to restore power to affected areas by close of day today June 6, 2024, while other rehabilitation works for the line continue,” the statement added.
