Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, an Independent Presidential candidate, has articulated his vision for the agricultural sector, outlining plans to support farmers if elected in the 2024 elections.
He has pledged to introduce incentives to assist farmers in accessing financing aimed at enhancing agricultural production. Kyerematen emphasized the importance of preventing produce from spoiling at farm gates due to inadequate transportation infrastructure, vowing to reduce transportation and logistics costs.
As the leader of the Movement for Change, he is also committed to implementing measures for improved irrigation and introducing a revised financing scheme to augment agricultural production and productivity.
During an interview on The Point of View on Citi TV, Kyerematen stressed the necessity of offering incentives to enhance distribution and marketing processes, highlighting the significance of affordable agricultural financing.

He argued that lending to the agricultural sector at rates exceeding 9% is unsustainable for maintaining agricultural productivity, advocating for a revamped agricultural financing framework. Additionally, he underscored the critical role of irrigation in advancing agricultural development.
