Alan Kyeremanten Resigns from NPP to Contest 2024 Elections as Independent Candidate

In a press conference held on Monday, September 25, in Accra, former Trade Minister and founding member of the New Patriotic Party, Alan Kyeremanten, announced his resignation from the party and disclosed he would contest the 2024 presidential elections as an independent candidate.

“I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honorably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate,” Alan declared.

Mr. Kyerematen secured third in the recent super delegates conference of the NPP on August 26 but believed the polls were skewed in favour of one particular aspirant.

He also revealed his supporters were often treated with disdain and outright outcasts. Therefore, per his experience, a continuous stay in the New Patriotic Party will be unhealthy.

“My continuous stay in the party will create further tensions and divisions,” he said.
