Ambulance Case: Ato-Forson was the Primary Target of Prosecution – Richard Jakpa Reveals

The AG's primary motive in the ambulance case was to target and prosecute the minority leader in parliament, Dr Ato Forson.

The third accused in the ongoing ambulance case, Richard Jakpa, alleged in court today, June 13 2024 that the AG’s prosecution was aimed at the first accused, Dr Ato Forson.

He revealed this during cross-examination by counsel for the first accused, Dr Abdul Bamba, citing that the attorney-general, Godfred Dame told him in confidence that the primary target of the prosecution was Dr Ato-Forson and not him.

“A-G told me that everybody knows his target is Dr Forson and as for me I was just added so that it wouldn’t look like Dr Forson is being haunted,” he said.

According to the businessman, he cooperated with the AG based on the assurance that he would be discharged during the submission of no case.

“I shouldn’t worry at the submission of no case. I’ll surely be discharged and I said okay and that was the meeting we had in July 2022,” he added.

According to him, the AG reaffirmed his assurance by providing him with the addendum to the main contract between the Government of Ghana and Big Sea even before the prosecution had closed its case.

Richard Jakpa made this revelation after the high court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe admitted into evidence the recorded conversation between Attorney-General Godfred Dame and the third accused person in the ambulance purchase trial Richard Jakpa.
