According to Simon Osei Mensah, the project shows the government’s commitment to providing quality and affordable houses for public sector workers and its efforts to reduce the housing deficits in the country.
“A tenancy agreement will be signed between the government and state agencies to which the workers belong, not the individual’s occupants,” he said.
The Ashanti Lands Officer, Peter Osei-Wusu, also disclosed that the government signed agreements with private construction firms that are building the houses in exchange for parcels of land.
“Government lands at Nhyieaso were evaluated by the Ghana Institute of Surveyors, while all contracts went through the Public Procurement Authority to ensure value for money. The agreement facilitated the smooth implementation of the project without the government committing any funds,” he stated.
