Some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been fined for invoking curses on the Electoral Commission (EC) and the ruling party parliamentary candidate in the area, Godfred Nti Anewu.
According to reports, an NDC delegation led by its Constituency Chairman Baba Galba and the Women’s Organiser, Agartha Yawson, were summoned by the Efutuakwa Traditional Council on Friday, where they were asked to pay GhC 10,000, provide 10 sheeps and six boxes of schnapps as atonement for revoking the curses.
The matter stemmed from accusations from the NDC side that during the voter transfer exercise the NPP parliamentary candidate had bussed voters from Kasoa to the Assin Central Constituency to allow them switch voting centres.
“The Assin Central NDC Women’s Organizer, Agartha Yawson led the group to invoke the dreaded deity against the NPP candidate. The angry party members slaughtered sheep to invoke river gods, Antoa Nyame and Betinsin to deal with anybody who has the intention to rig the December general election in the Assin Central Constituency,” a report by Kasapa FM said earlier this month.
