The Ambulance case has taken a new turn as Richard Jakpa, the third accused seeks to compel key figures to testify in court.
Following his own testimony on July 9, 2024, Jakpa was directed to call his witnesses.
He intends to call eight witnesses, including former Health Ministers Alban Bagbin and Alex Segbefia, who will receive subpoenas. Notably, Bagbin is now the Speaker of Parliament.
However, the judge pointed out an oversight in the subpoena order, which failed to request specific documents from the witnesses.

In response, Jakpa’s lawyers announced on July 11, 2024, that they would subpoena two additional witnesses. They are the Chief of Defence Staff Lt. General Thomas Oppong Peprah, and the Military Secretary, Air Commodore Adu Gyamfi.
The case will now resume on July 18, 2024, allowing time for the necessary documents to be prepared and the additional witnesses to be subpoenaed.
