Bank of Ghana Commends National Banking College 

The College was established on April 9, 1994,  by the Bank of Ghana (BoG), as an autonomous non-profit-making institution, charged with developing training programmes for bankers at the professional and managerial levels.

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has commended the National Banking College (NBC) for human resource training in the financial sector.

Speaking at the 30th anniversary of the College, the First Deputy Governor of the BoG, Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for the good work done since the College came into existence 30 years ago.

“The governing council, together with the various management teams, has selflessly managed affairs at the college in line with best practices and ensured its continued growth and relevance in the industry,” he said.

He added that the institution has in the past sailed through several landscapes to become what it has become now.

“In each passing year, the institution has navigated through various economic landscapes and regional and global transformations to become stronger and more impactful. Indeed, the continued success of NBC attests to its resilience and dedication,” he added.

The First Deputy Governor disclosed that the recent banking sector clean-up exercise necessitated a review of National Banking College’s strategies to actualise its vision of becoming a world-class institution.

“More recently, issues that emerged from the banking sector clean-up exercise necessitated a review of NBC’s strategies to actualise its vision of becoming a world-class institution, delivering effective training in banking and finance, and thus playing a leading role in the capacity building of employees in the financial sector,” Opoku- Afari added
