Bawumia Narrows Mahama’s Lead by 3%, But NDC Candidate Still Ahead by More Than 50% – Latest InfoAnalytics Poll

The latest poll by Global InfoAnalytics suggests the 2024 presidential race is tightening amidst a nationwide tour by the vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

As the 2024 elections draw close, the latest poll by Global Infoanlytics suggests that ruling party candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has narrowed the lead by opposition party candidate John Mahama by approximately 3% compared to the April 2024 poll.

Mahama now leads by 51.1% and Dr. Bawumia by 38.2%. Support for other candidates is also reaching some heights, as leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen and New Forces’ Nana Kwame Bediako accumulated 5.3% and 4.6% respectively. Results for the other groups are still below 1%.

“The latest poll by Global InfoAnalytics suggests the 2024 presidential race is tightening amidst a nationwide tour by the vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB). The poll shows that in the event of a runoff, JDM is on 52%, DMB, 42% and 6% of voters are undecided, suggesting that the poll is currently unlikely to head to a runoff,” the report from the poll noted.

Bawumia also recorded declines from 45% in April to 30%. However, it’s been gains for Alan and Nana Kwame Bediako. “AKK and NKB are now tied in third and fourth place with 13% of the votes each.”

Despite the declines in the Central Region, Bawumia recorded significant gains in the Ashanti Region, attracting 66% of the vote compared to 54% recorded in April.

Dr. Bawumia was recently on an Ashanti Regional tour last month, campaigning alongside influential party member, Kennedy Agyapong. He’s also set to announce his running mate Mathew Opoku Prempeh soon. Opoku Premeph is an Ashanti indigene.

But John Mahama on the other hand, suffered a decline from 31% to 22% in July. Even for Alan Kyerematen who is from that region, he also saw a decline and is now on 8%, from 12% in April.

Nana Kwame Bediako seemed to have made some marginal gains as he attracted 4% of the votes in July compared to 2% in the April poll, the report added.

Bediako, the report said may turn out to shock the NPP/NDC duopoly in Ghana, as polls show he is making significant gains in the Central, Ashanti, Eastern, and Volta regions.

“NKB leads in Abura Asebu Kwamankese and Kade constituencies in the Central and Eastern regions respectively,” insight from the poll stated.
