The former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akomea has stated that the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will announce his running mate by the end of June, as he has already made his choice.
The former member of parliament for Okaikwei South revealed this in an interview on Thursday, June 6, 2024, when answering questions on Bawumia’s recent campaign promises.
“Dr Bawumia has reached a decision, he will announce by June end,” Nana Akomea said.
Bawumia launched his campaign tour in the Eastern Region on April 29, 2024. He kicked off his campaign with visits to religious leaders, chiefs, market players, youth groups, and other key stakeholders in the region.

Bawumia tagged the campaign as an issue-based campaign focusing on practical solutions to the concerns of Ghanaians. There have been a lot of talks on when and who the NPP flagbearer will choose as running mate.
Meanwhile, former President John Mahama, running for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has outdoored his running mate Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and has been actively campaigning with her.
They have been engaging with various communities, promising to address economic challenges and improve social services if elected in the upcoming December 7 election.
