Begoro Chief Summoned For Endorsing John Mahama

His accusers say he brought the name of the Begoro stool into "disrepute and subjected it to political ridicule by engaging in partisan politics" when he showed support for Mahama's proposed 24-hour economy policy at an Eastern Region campaign event.

The Ankobeahene of the Begoro Stool, Bafour Owiredu Agyarko Minta II, has been summoned by the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council after a petition by another chief accused him of endorsing NDC flagbearer, John Mahama.

His accusers say he brought the name of the Begoro stool into “disrepute and subjected it to political ridicule by engaging in partisan politics” when he showed support for Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy policy at an Eastern Region campaign event.

The petition further claimed Nana Owiredu Agyarko Minta mentioned that “all Nananom have invoked the gods by pouring libation against the breaking of the eight-mantra of the New Patriotic Party government”, and that residents should vote massively for the NDC candidate instead.

They are asking the traditional council to destool Nana Owiredu Agyarko Minta as part of punitive measures and that he be made to apologise to them and residents in the area.
The hearing on the matter runs from now until Monday, February 19, 2024.
