Tyla is the third non-US-born artist to win the Best New Artist award, following Nicki Minaj and Sam Smith. Her chart-topping single “Water” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January and earned her the first Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in February.

In addition to winning twice on the night, the Grammy-winning singer captivated the audience with a captivating performance of her single “Jump,” which featured American rapper Gunna and Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng.

Prior to her win, Tyla’s released a four track self-titled debut album, “Tyla”, in March 2024, which features a unique blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and pop, creating a fresh and vibrant sound that captivates listeners.

The album features guest appearances from Tems, Travis Scott, Gunna, Skillibeng and Becky G. The album received critical acclaim and debuted at 24th on the Billboard 200 in the United States.
