Bongo Ideas Recounts Ordeal Following Arrest

"They beat me up and they warned me never to speak about the President."

Social media commentator, Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas, has finally spoken up concerning the ordeal he faced at the hands of his captors during his alleged arrest.

A sneak peek into a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) showed him in a DW TV  interview narrating how he was captured, manhandled, and cautioned to desist from passing comments about the President.

“I was threatened to be killed, pistols were pointed to my head and I was told to say my last prayers. They beat me up and they warned me never to speak about the President,” Bongo said.

It is alleged that Bongo Ideas was arrested on Thursday, March 14, 2024, in his house by a group of people who masqueraded themselves as the police and operatives of the National Security after he posted defamatory content about President Nana Akuffo-Addo on his X account.

But the Ministry of National Security in a statement dated Friday, March 15, 2024, denied the arrest allegations and dismissed the reports as mere speculation, calling on the public to ignore the rumours.
