Charterhouse to Establish Music Hall of Fame in Ghana

Mrs. Theresa Ayoade disclosed the information during the Telecel Ghana Music Awards Industry Mixer event held at the Palm Convention Centre in Accra, on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

The Chief Executive Officer of Charterhouse Productions, Theresa Ayoade, has revealed the company’s decision to establish a Hall of Fame for the Ghanaian music industry.

Mrs. Theresa Ayoade disclosed the information during the Telecel Ghana Music Awards Industry Mixer event held at the Palm Convention Centre in Accra, on Saturday, July 13, 2024. She stated that Charterhouse had compiled extensive industry data but didn’t know what to do with it. This  inspired the company to initiate the project of building a music Hall of Fame in Ghana.

“We were inspired to set up this initiative from when we started the Ghana Music Awards journey. We realised that we would have in our possession a lot of music industry data so we started asking ourselves what do we do with all this data?,” she said.

The CEO believed the data was too significant to be left in the offices of the production house, so they sought to develop a way that would render it readily available to the public.

“We cannot just leave it on our shelves, our offices, just for our consumption. There should be a way to make it available to the public for researches, musicologists, students and even tourists to experience our music culture,” she said.

According to her, Charterhouse is collecting historical data on notable personalities, significant events, exhibits, and memorabilia related to the Ghanaian music industry. Additionally, she revealed that Charterhouse is collaborating with the National Museum, which has agreed to offer a space for the establishment of the Hall of Fame.

“We are also collaborating with the National Museum and we have had very fruitful meetings with them. They are ready to donate a space to the project. So we have already had a look at the space and it’s an awesome space,” the CEO added.

She also emphasized that due to the necessary renovations, fundraising was crucial to complete the project, leading to the collaboration with the National Museum and UNESCO.

“We would need to do some renovations, setting ups and all of that, so there need to be a round of fund raising to be able to put all of that together and this is why we are looking for collaborators from far and wide and that is why we approached UNESCO and other such organisations that are interested in cultural and heritage preservation,” she said.
