The Civil Service and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a strike from Wednesday, July 3, 2024, over the non-implementation of the new salary structure.
A statement dated July 2, 2024, signed by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, directed “all staff of the Civil Service and Local Government Service to stay away from work until further notice.”

The new salary structure was reached in 2022 after a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the union and the government.
But CLOGSAG says despite the clear terms outlined in the MOU, implementation has been delayed for over a year. The new structure was supposed to take effect on January 1, 2023.
“We have waited for one and a half years for the government to fulfill its promise. The time for patience has passed Our members deserve the salaries and allowances agreed upon,” they said in a statement last month.
