The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) risks facing resistance from the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) if it proceeds with the sale of its stake in four hotels to Rock City, owned by Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong.
Following a media engagement after meeting with the SSNIT Board on May 30, 2024, Executive Secretary, Mr Bampoe Addo expressed Organised Labour’s disapproval of the deal, stating that they are not satisfied with its terms.
“There are so many negatives in the transaction that we have pointed out to them. How can you go through a tender process and give specifications, and along the line, you change the specifications?” Mr Bampoe said.

He noted that SSNIT’s actions violate Ghana’s Procurement Act and Organized Labour will therefore assume control of the process and called for a complete overhaul of the sale process.
“Our Procurement Act does not allow this. We have told them to cancel the deal. We will take control. This is our money. We will take control, SSNIT does not need to go ahead with the deal. They dare not go ahead with the deal, and we have asked for a total restructuring of SSNIT,” he said.
