In a show of international goodwill, President Nana Akufo-Addo has extended warm congratulations to President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal following his victory in the recent presidential elections.
In a statement released earlier yesterday [March 28, 2024], President Akufo-Addo said, “On behalf of the people and Government of Ghana, I extend warmest congratulations to the President-Elect of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, on his decisive victory in the presidential election”
He further expressed his delight at Faye’s win, emphasizing the importance of strong bilateral relations between Ghana and Senegal.
“I look forward to working closely with President-Elect Faye to enhance Ghanaian-Senegalese relations, improve the living conditions of our two peoples, advance their mutual interests, and promote the wider interests of the African peoples,” he added.

The two-term president of Ghana also extended commendations to the outgoing president of Senegal, Macky Sall, for his dedication towards democracy in Africa and subsequently superintending over such a peaceful election.
“The Ghanaian people and I also congratulate outgoing President, His Excellency
Macky Sall, for his contribution to the progress and development of Africa, and for
overseeing the conduct of peaceful, credible and transparent elections in Senegal,” part of the statement said.
President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye secured a decisive win in Senegal’s elections on March 25, promising a new era of progress, prosperity, and accountability for the people of Senegal.
His victory has been met with widespread optimism both domestically and abroad – primarily for his age and the anti-corruption crusade he’s embarked on.
