An Accra High Court has issued arrest warrants against the Director-General of the Police Criminal Investigations Department, (DCOP) Faustina Agyeiwaa Kodua Andoh-Kwofie, and a Director in charge of Legal and Prosecution at the Ghana Police Service.
This action follows the duo’s repeated failure to appear in court to face contempt charges.
The court’s decision stems from an application by religious organisation, Sureword Global Outreach, which requested the release of an impounded vehicle, which the respondents had detained.
Despite multiple court orders, the respondents persistently disregarded the directives to make a court appearance, leading to the bench warrant.

During today’s proceedings, lawyers for Sureword sought the committal of the CID boss and the head of Legal and Prosecution Unit for contempt.
Granting that request, the court observed that the respondents had consistently ignored its instructions, prompting the issuance of the arrest warrants.
“This court has extended enough courtesy to these public officers and due to the fact that there is nobody above the law, I hereby issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the respondents – Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department and Director General Legal and Prosecution unit of CID of the Ghana Police Service,” said Justice Lydia Osei-Marfo who presided over proceedings.
