The Cape Coast High Court has granted an injunction on the swearing in of Assin North Member of Parliament (MP).
The court arrived at this decision after hearing arguments by Judges in a suit brought against the MP-elect for holding dual citizenship.
According to the petitioner, Michael Ankomah-Nimfah, the MP-elect failed to renounce his Canadian Citizenship before contesting to be elected as MP for the Constituency.

The Petitioner who is a mason by profession also wants the court to place an order of perpetual injunction on the MP-elect so he cannot be sworn in.
After hearing arguments for and against the petition, the court has placed an injunction on the swearing-in of the MP-elect.
Thus, the constituency will be not have a representation in Parliament until the final determination.
By this, it means the NDC will have 136 MPs.
