The Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum, has unveiled a new set of uniforms for basic school students as part of an initiative to rebrand and enhance the image of public schools.
The outdooring of the new uniform took place at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
The minister indicated that changing the colour of uniforms forms part of the government’s decision to rebrand public schools in Ghana.
“You see, you don’t see brown and yellow, we are rebranding public schools. No brown and yellow, blue and white, and we are changing the uniforms too. This is President Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia’s Ghana,” Dr Adutwum said.

He further that, changing the uniforms has become necessary because the rebranding initiative had begun already.
“We have begun the transformation. There’s no reason why we should not. Ghana deserves better, and we’re going to give them better, something that we can all be proud of,” he added.
He ended by addressing public opinion on schools under trees, citing the government’s quest to eradicate that.
“I look forward to a day when parents will line up in front of basic schools and beg to enrol their children, that is the day, and it will soon come and it has begun under Nana Akufo Addo,” he added.
