Election 2024: Alan Promises to Establish Traders Bank After Madina Market Fire

I will uplift the lives of traders, those who play a significant role in providing our staples and feeding the many homes in our various communities.

The leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has told traders that he would establish a Traders Bank in Ghana after a major fire incident hit the Madina market last Wednesday.

“This bank will ensure that they have access to credit and loan facilities, which are essential for the sustainability of their businesses,” Alan said on Friday when he met market women after the devasting fire incident.

He further promised to restructure retail market infrastructures across the country if he’s elected into office, saying that that vision would fall under his “Great Transformational Plan(GTP).

“I am committed to revolutionizing the retail market infrastructure in our country by building well-structured modern market centres that are equipped with facilities like clinics, childcare centres, and modern company lorry parks among others to serve the communities. I believe that by supporting the private sector through incentives to construct the market and regulate it, we can make it affordable for ordinary traders,” he said.

Mr. Kyerematen, a former minister of trade under the current regime, resigned from the ruling NPP to form his political movement, called the Movement for Change. Recently, he joined forces with former CPP flagbearer, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster to form an alliance for the 2024 elections. But it’s not yet clear who would be the leader of that coalition.
