Election 2024: Bawumia Outlines ‘Independent’ Vision For Ghana [Full Text]

Speaking at the UPSA auditorium earlier today, Dr. Bawumia promised a number of things - including removing 'controversial taxes' that the administration he serves under has implemented, while also applauding the government's handling of the economic crisis.

Vice President and current NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has outlined what he says is his independent vision ahead of the general elections in December.

Speaking at the UPSA auditorium earlier today, Dr. Bawumia promised a number of things – including removing ‘controversial taxes’ that the administration he serves under has implemented, while also applauding the government’s handling of the economic crisis.

“I must salute and give particular recognition to the Bank of Ghana, which has come under unfair criticism for taking the necessary measures which helped pull the economy back from the brink. The central bank provided needed financing to the Government at that critical moment. What What the Bank of Ghana did was very responsible, in putting the interest of the good citizens of Ghana first,” Dr. Bawumia said, even though some analysts and opposition figures had accused the Central Bank of the opposite when they staged a demonstration last year.
