President Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the government will not do anything to mar the 2024 elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) abhors electoral malpractices.
“The NPP Government is clear about its obligation and duty to ensure that the impending elections are conducted in an atmosphere of peace and security, in full transparency and respect for the electoral laws of our country”, the President said at the 13th Biennial/51st Annual Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana.
The President emphasized that the NPP, grounded in the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, has always been an advocate for democracy and a firm opponent of authoritarian rule.

The President emphasized that the security agencies are ready to fulfill their duties to ensure that the elections reflect the genuine will of the Ghanaian people, without any violence or coercion.
He strongly voiced out his disapproval of those raising fears of electoral malpractice, including some members of the clergy, expressing disappointment in those predicting “election rigging and Kenyan-style blood-letting.
“They will be let down. The 2024 elections, like the previous ones held in Ghana during the 4th Republic, will be conducted peacefully and in complete compliance with the country’s laws”, the President said.
President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed that the NPP’s strategy for the upcoming elections is grounded in its track record of governing over the past eight years; noting with satisfaction his administration’s achievements in various sectors such as the economy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and digitization.
He told the Methodist clergy and congregants that, “I came out of a peaceful election, and I will leave in a peaceful election,” to make clear his position of ensuring and maintaining Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy on the African continent.
