Election Petition: Here are the Six Reliefs the NDC is Seeking from the Supreme Court

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has finally filed a petition at the Supreme Court of Ghana to challenge the December 7 elections which he describes as “flawed”.

“My lawyers this afternoon filed before the Supreme Court, a petition challenging the results of the 2020 Presidential Election declared by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, ” Mr. Mahama tweeted.

Below are the reliefs the NDC is seeking from the Supreme Court:

1. The EC breached Article 63(3) on the declaration of the Presidential results.
2. Based on the data used for the Presidential declaration, none of the candidates got 50+1 to be declared President.
3. That the declaration by the EC is unconstitutional, null, void and of no effects.
4. An order annuling the 2020 Presidential election declaration.
5. An order preventing the President from holding himself out as President-elect.
6. An order mandatory directing the EC to conduct a second election.
