The IMANI Center for Policy and Education says it’s reached out to leaders of the major parties for a debate amid calls for a presidential debate before the December polls.
Franklin Cudjoe, IMANI’s founder wrote on Facebook that they had only received a response from opposition flagbearer, John Mahama, although it’s not certain yet if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate would accept the invitation.
“We have had a reply from John Dramani Mahama’s office- tentative though, and we wait. Yet to hear from Dr Bawumia and his team,” he said.

Calls for a presidential debate among the contenders in the December polls have been growing lately. The presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has already thrown a challenge to his main opponent for a debate.
Earlier this week, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) who’ve previously held presidential debates like the famous October 2012 encounter between then-President John Mahama and President Akufo-Addo said it is ready to hold another one soon, although dates have not been set yet.
