Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has offered his reaction to the February 14 ministerial reshuffle, particularly commenting on the appointment of the new finance minister, Mohammed Amin Adam.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gabby praised the appointment of Mohammed Amin Adam as the best replacement for Ken Ofori-Atta, another relative of the president, who had faced calls to step down amidst the country’s economic challenges.
“Congratulations to Amin Adam. Ghana’s President couldn’t have found a more prepared, competent, humble, conscious, and personable replacement to take control of the country’s finances than you. Reactions from the public suggest strong approval,” his post read.

Ofori-Atta, having served for seven full years as finance minister, holds the record as the longest-serving politician in that role. Meanwhile, Amin Adam, previously Minister of State at the finance ministry, is now expected to lead the government’s negotiations with creditors as part of the US$3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout program.
According to reports from pro-government Asaase Radio, Ofori-Atta has been appointed as a presidential advisor, with a specific focus on international investments and capital markets.
