The “Transformer” hitmaker who has been nominated in the Best Rapper category at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards, claims he doesn’t pay much attention to the nomination because of his incessant loss.
“This is the 6th time I have been nominated for the Best Rapper category but unfortunately it always turns to a mirage, so I don’t pay much attention to it, in order not to get disappointed,” he said.
Strongman who was formerly signed to the Sarkcess Music label, said he holds the record as the only rapper in Ghana to have been nominated in the Best Rapper category four times in a row, despite his inability to win an accolade to cement the feat.
Strongman’s award drought has sparked debates among rap fans and social media commentators who have expressed their disappointment at his failure to win awards at previous editions of the Ghana Music Awards.
Strongman was first recognised after winning the maiden edition of the Next Big Thing in GH Rap, on GhOneTv, during his University days. His ability to rap in his native tongue(twi) and lyrical prowess made his style distinct from others. He later got signed to the Sarkcess Music label in 2017. He later parted ways with the label in 2019 to work as an independent artiste.
