Authorities at the Nsawam Prison have issued a wanted person notice for a Chinese inmate who escaped while receiving medical care at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Wang Xiao was arrested at Tema for stealing and was reportedly serving a one-year jail term at the Nsawam Maximum Security Prison.
Authorities say he feigned a dental health problem and was taken to the hospital last Wednesday, where he took off.

In addition to efforts to re-arrest him, officials on duty at the time of his getaway are under interrogation.

“We have gotten a lot of leads that are proving to be successful in what we are doing,” said Acting Spokesperson of the Ghana Prisons Service, Superintendent Abdul Latif Adamu.
