When asked about the reasons behind business failures in a question and answer session, he emphasized, “Businesses in the world fail because of envy and jealousy, and with my years of experience in the business industry in Ghana, I have the solution to
it.”

The event took place on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Center.

The seasoned entrepreneur and business leader shared his insights and experiences highlighting the detrimental impact of envy and jealousy on businesses worldwide. He stressed the need for a national policy to address envy and jealousy in the workplace, drawing parallels with existing policies on sexual harassment.

“If we can have a policy on sexual harassment, then we should have a national policy on Envy and Jealousy,” he said.

In an exclusive interview with Nii Marmah Boye of The Accra Times on the sidelines of the event, Nana Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo emphasized the importance of government support in making his books accessible to all secondary and tertiary schools in Ghana.

“I believe partnering with the government and the Ministry of Education would be a fantastic opportunity to get my books into every secondary and tertiary school across the country. I am confident that this book will serve as a valuable guide for students embarking on their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.

Dr Agyekum’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of seven, and he has since become a prominent figure in Ghana’s business landscape. He emphasized that poverty is a mindset and encouraged Ghanaians to utilize the country’s resources effectively.

The event drew together notable personalities such as Dr Daniel McKorley, Chairperson for the occasion and Group Chairman, Mc Dan Group of Companies, Mr Alex Dade, Founder and Chairman of the KGL Group, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyina, former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Yoofi Grant, CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) among other notable entrepreneurs, and aspiring business leaders.

The book launch was a resounding success, with guests praising the author’s insightful and practical approach to entrepreneurship.

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyina, Mr. Alex Adade, and Yoofi Grant, prominent figures in their respective fields, delivered brief inspiring fraternity speeches. Yoofi Grant, CEO of GIPC, highlighted a crucial distinction: “Being a businessman and an entrepreneur are not the same; a businessman takes an idea and turns it into a profitable venture, demonstrating the true test of entrepreneurship, which in turn creates responsibility.”

He encouraged young entrepreneurs to use the book as a guiding light on their path to creating successful businesses and generating wealth. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of confidently pursuing wealth creation, noting that, “wealth can be shared, but
poverty cannot”.

The event also saw the announcement of Dr Agyekum’s upcoming book, “ENVY AND JEALOUSY: THE SILENT KILLER”, which he says will delve into the root causes of failing companies in Ghana and offer solutions to overcome the challenges.
