The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has expressed shock at the death of the former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to General Mosquito as he’s known in the political circle, he was devastated by death of Sir John.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia disclosed that he was devastated at the news of the passing of the former NPP General Secretary, Sir John.
“I’m devastated by death of Sir John. He has been friend for close to 28 years…,” he said

He is reported to have died on Wednesday evening at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness. The renowned lawyer-cum-politician died after testing positive for the novel Coronavirus.
Sir John reportedly succumbed to complications of the disease while undergoing treatment at the ICU of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Until his death, Sir John was the CEO of the Forestry Commission.
Reacting to the sudden death of Sir John, Asiedu Nketia said, “I was solidly behind him during the contempt case against him and insisted he should be protected”
“My wife called me yesterday night to tell me he has passed on. I knew he was sick but when my wife called me, I thought it was fake news.
“I have a common friend with Sir John, so when he called me, I knew immediately that he was indeed dead.
He also revealed that “we had life beyond politics…even when my mum died, he came to spend three days,,three nights in my house,” he said.
