The Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has promised to transform the Makola-Okaishie market into an ultramodern facility if he becomes the President of Ghana.

During his Greater Accra market tour, as part of his campaign program, Alan Kyerematen interacted with the traders at the Makola market and listened to their concerns. He addressed the market women, assuring them of his commitment to improving their trade by making loans available to them.

“Traders are my own people. I understand the challenges you face; I know you need a place to sell your goods and services. The market is my infrastructure priority. My top project is the redevelopment of the entire Makola market into an ultra-modern market. I won’t disappoint you if you vote for me as president,” he said.

The traders complained about the poor state of the markets and called on Alan to come to their aid when he was elected. Alan Kyerematen promised to revamp the market into a modern facility that would attract more local and international investors.

He also pledged to improve the infrastructure of the market, provide adequate security, and create a conducive environment for the traders to thrive.

On September 25th, 2023, Alan Kyerematen announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party, citing unfair treatment from the party towards him and his supporters. Subsequently, he declared his intention to run for the presidency as an independent candidate and as the leader of the Movement of Change. This move was seen by many as a bold step in his political career.
