I Won’t Abandon My Presidential Ambition to Serve Under Akufo-Addo – Boakye Agyarko

Former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko has vowed not to accept any form of appointment from the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mr Boakye Agyarko who was the 2016 campaign manager of the Akufo-Addo campaign was appointed as the Energy Minister in the first term of the Akufo-Addo government.

However, he was axed from the government following under unexplained circumstances mid-way into the first term of the President and replaced with John Peter Amewu.

Interestingly, the former Governor of the Bank of New York refused to comment on his dismissal and rather promised to offer the full explanation after the dust has settled.

And the dust seem to have settled yesterday when he offered a rare interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen which was monitored by Angelfmonline.com.gh.

“I am pursuing my own presidential ambition for which a lot of people kicked against right from the beginning, I will not abandon it to go and do any other thing else…,” he said in a reaction to the question of whether he would want to serve in the Akufo-Addo government again.

He further explained that he has rather chosen to be focused on attaining his personal goals in life after exiting the Energy Ministry under circumstances he described as ‘painful’.

“You definitely will want to move on when you wholeheartedly serves someone who unfortunately do not appreciate your sacrificial work…if I cannot give my 100% [to something], I will never do it…,” he said.

He further added that he is taking this bold step to reject future appointments from the Akufo-Addo government because “my father once again taught me that done done by halves are never done right. I will never accept job offers where I would deliver only 50%, if this is my focus, let me give it a 10
